ECO: Trash O' Treat Community Cleanup

Volunteers will help beautify the community by removing litter from the Tijuana River Watershed, preventing it from reaching the Pacific Ocean. Participants will also have the chance to take part in a costume swap and learn how to celebrate a zero-waste Halloween.

Volunteers will meet staff at a check-in-table, join I Love A Clean San Diego for a talk about watersheds and recycling, then grab supplies needed to pick up litter. Volunteers will then collect litter and take it back to staff to sort through and dispose of properly.

Other activities happening throughout the event:

COSTUME SWAP: Bring in your old costumes and take home a new one for free this Halloween and help divert textile waste from our local landfills.

ZERO WASTE HALLOWEEN: Learn how to contribute to a circular economy with pumpkin composting, recycling candy wrappers, and more!

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

Attire: Everyone is encouraged to come dressed in a costume!

Physical Requirements: Unfortunately this opportunity is not able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations and the space where is not wheelchair accessible.

Waiver: This event requires a signed release-of-liability waiver for all volunteers, and anyone under 18 needs a waiver signed by a guardian. If possible, print the waiver, sign, and bring with you to this cleanup.

Weather: Thie event takes place rain or shine! If it is raining on your cleanup day, bringing rain boots, a raincoat and a towel to dry off afterwards is recommended.
