ORGANIZATION: Providence Hospice

Providence Logo

Program Support Volunteers with Hospice act on the direction of the Volunteer Program Team or another Hospice staff member to provide assistance with office functions and special projects. Components of this position can be supported on-site at one of our office locations, while other components can be done remotely from anywhere in Oregon or Southern Washington.

Are you more a behind-the-scenes type of person? Do you want to give back to others with your compassion and empathy but prefer to do so supporting field staff via office settings and/or remote opportunities from your home? Do you appreciate that feeling of accomplishment when a series of calls is made, checklists are completed, and/or materials are assembled and shipped out the door? This may be just the right fit for you!

About Providence Hospice

Location:

6410 NE Halsey St., Suite 300, Portland, OR 97213, US

Mission Statement

Our Mission Statement captures the love, purpose, and empathy that the Sisters of Providence imbued into Providence from Day One, and which we all carry forth to the here and now. And we want to emphasize that we at Providence simultaneously honor our deep and beloved Catholic roots while also embracing communities from all walks of life, with individuals with all identities. People of color, LGBTQ communities, people with disabilities, and other minorities and marginalized communities are not only tolerated and accepted, but embraced in our growing and evolving tapestry of diversity. Our Mission Statement references God’s healing love. Maybe, for you, this equates to the healing love possible in the human spirit, regardless of your spiritual beliefs. Our Mission Statement talks about the ministry of Jesus. Maybe your alignment is with Buddha, or Krishna, or Nature - these ministries of all shapes and sizes are part of our journey together here at Providence.

Description

Hospice is expert, compassionate care provided to those with advanced illnesses where cure is no longer a realistic goal. The Providence Hospice team sees each person and family as unique and strives to provide quality end-of-life care as they face their journey with comfort and dignity. Hospice care is patient-directed and interdisciplinary, with physician, nurse, social worker, home health aide, and volunteer working collaboratively together to care for the patient. Hospice care is provided in a patient's home, whether that home is a private residence or a residential facility. Providence Hospice provides compassionate, thoughtful care to our patients and families with respect to their culture, religion, values, and beliefs.
