underserved adult learners can become economically successful and reframes adult basic

education as a critical public policy issue.

About LVI’s VOCAL AmeriCorps Program:

LVI's current national service program, VOCAL AmeriCorps (Volunteer Outreach for Community Action in Literacy) places Full Time (1700 hour), Part Time (900 hour), Quarter Time (450 Hour) and Minimum Time (300 Hour) members serving in volunteer literacy programs throughout the state.

Benefits:

VOCAL AmeriCorps members earn a living allowance/stipend, an education award and a CSF bonus:

  • $10,000 Living Allowance

  • $3,697 Education Award

  • Quarterly stipend just for joining totaling $1,350!



Position Summary:

ScaleLit is seeking an energetic team member to fulfill the VOCAL role, the ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Provide can-do attitude and ability to oversee tasks from start to finish

  • Exhibits ability to be collegial with peers in different community

  • An interest in adult learning and workforce development

  • Serve a minimum of 850 hours between September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2025

  • Maintain professional time management and communication skills.

Primary responsibilities include:

Recruitment

  • Help ScaleLIT with membership recruitment

Event Planning

  • Assist in organizing and planning Adult Education/Literacy Advocacy events

  • Gather consent for Social media

  • Assist in planning for ScaleLIT’s annual event, Beyond Books, including silent auction recruitment

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Serve as agency representative at coalition meetings, job fairs, and similar events by creating minute and agenda distribution, slideshow creation, and sign creation

  • Perform other duties as assigned



Applicants will be interviewed by both ScaleLIT and LVI before being selected.
