Friends of San Lucas is a nonprofit organization dedicated to generating support for the Mission in San Lucas Tolimán, Guatemala. Local leadership is at the center of our work and we support community-led solutions to community-identified challenges. Managed by over 100 Guatemalan staff, the San Lucas Mission was founded in 1963 & has grown to support over 25,000 community members annually across seven program areas, including: education, healthcare, construction, direct trade coffee, charity with dignity, a women’s center, and a Visitor Program. FOSL is an ecumenical organization that invites people of religious and secular backgrounds to participate.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Visitor Program Coordinator position is a full-time role based in the community of San Lucas Tolimán, Guatemala. Each year, the SLM welcomes 1000+ visitors to the community through the visitor program. The Visitor Program Coordinator plays an integral role in supporting all visiting groups as they prepare for and experience the community of San Lucas Tolimán. A critical aspect of this position is understanding the needs and cultural norms of the community and helping transmit those to visitors. Work is performed in the community and on project worksites, though some tasks will be performed in a traditional office. Many visitors and community members come from a strong faith background and this role regularly interfaces with a variety of Christian traditions. The desired commitment for this position is 18 months, with a 90 day trial/review period, and reports to the Lead Visitor Program Coordinator.

Friends of San Lucas (FOSL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to generating support for the Mission in San Lucas Tolimán, Guatemala. Local leadership is at the center of our work and we support community-led solutions to community-identified challenges. Managed by over 100 Guatemalan staff, the San Lucas Mission (SLM) is rooted in Christian Social Teaching and supports community members through seven program areas, including: healthcare, education, coffee, construction, charity, the Women’s Center, and a Visitor program which welcomes 1,200+ visitors annually. FOSL is an ecumenical organization that invites people of both religious and secular backgrounds to participate. The purpose of the Visitor Program is to provide opportunities for learning, relationship building, and reflection.
