About the Role: As a Hospice Tuck-In Volunteer, you will play a vital role in providing support to our hospice patients and their families. Your primary responsibility will be to check in with patients (usually by phone) before the weekend to ensure they have the supplies and support they need. This simple, but powerful, task helps our patients feel secure and well-prepared for the days ahead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Call hospice patients and/or caregivers once a week (typically Thursdays or Fridays).
- Ensure patients have the medications, supplies, and equipment they need for the weekend.
- Provide emotional support through conversation and offer a comforting presence.
- Communicate any patient needs or concerns to the hospice care team.
Requirements:
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- A compassionate and caring attitude.
- Ability to work independently.
- Basic organizational skills to keep track of calls and needs.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Background check and training provided.
Time Commitment:
- Flexible volunteer hours, typically 2-3 hours per week.
- Volunteer in our office.

Bridge Home Health & Hospice is looking for volunteers dedicated and compassionate about making a difference by providing companionship to our terminally ill patients. Bridge volunteers conduct friendly visits with patients and help them in their daily lives by conducting social visits, reading aloud, playing musical instruments, playing cards/games, caregiver relief, veteran to veteran companionship, etc. Volunteers can also provide compassionate remote services such as phone calls, letter writing, sending cards, etc. Volunteer visits and phone calls make a huge impact and truly enrich the lives of our patients and their loved ones. Bridge provides all training needed to be an effective volunteer by outlining our basic policies and procedures during our onboarding process. You can be sure that once you go on your first visit, you will be prepared. Requirements Include: A clean record, TB test, a great attitude and desire to make a difference!
