Hello! We are hosting a special Saturday Thanksgiving Event and will need volunteers to assist in a variety of areas. We look forward to meeting you!

Why: Heart of Compassion is dedicated to being a lighthouse of hope and help for Montebello and our local communities and this event will provide outreach to those in need. We are planning on serving 500-700 families at this event.

Who: Heart of Compassion is 98% volunteer led non-profit, serving approximately 400 families a week with groceries and goods. With volunteer support, Heart of Compassion diligently focuses on its mission of Fighting Hunger and Feeding Hope. This is a special Saturday event held once a year and many in the community look forward to it.

What to Expect: Volunteering will be done in two shifts, morning and second shifts in these areas:

Traffic security and crowd control

Food preparation and bagging

Registration team

Food distribution team

Volunteers are asked to be friendly with our guests and flexible as they may be assigned to different areas and groups may be split up.

Volunteers are responsible for following their team leader's directions and having a good attitude.

Volunteers must follow safety directions.

What's Required:

Volunteers must be at least 13 years old to help with our public food distributions (minor waiver signed by guardian required).

Volunteers must wear a safety vest (provided if needed).

Wear closed-toed shoes, wear modest clothing.

Check-in and out when they volunteer.

Be willing to stand/walk for long periods and/or lift heavy objects.

Let the office/event coordinator know if they cannot attend their scheduled shift.

Volunteers may need to lift/load heavy boxes.
