The Southern BBQ Network (SBN) is a flavorful community of BBQ enthusiasts in the Carolinas. With 250 members and a $20,000 annual budget, we're dedicated to promoting BBQ culture, supporting charities, and ensuring fair competition. We're looking for a tech-savvy volunteer to spice up our digital presence!
Role Overview
We're seeking a passionate Volunteer IT Director to manage and enhance our digital infrastructure, focusing on our website, social media presence, and membership database.
Key Responsibilities
1. Website Management
- Maintain and update our website (https://www.sbbqn.com/)
- Implement new features to improve user experience and functionality
- Ensure website security and performance
2. Social Media Strategy
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy
- Create engaging content across various platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
- Analyze social media metrics and adjust strategies accordingly
3. Database Administration
- Manage and optimize our membership database
- Ensure data security and compliance with privacy regulations
- Implement systems for efficient data collection and analysis
4. Digital Marketing
- Assist in creating and sending email newsletters
- Implement SEO strategies to increase online visibility
- Explore digital advertising opportunities
5. Technical Support
- Provide IT support for board members and during events
- Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise
Qualifications
- Strong experience in web development and content management systems
- Proficiency in social media management and analytics tools
- Database management skills (SQL, data analysis)
- Knowledge of digital marketing principles and SEO
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
- A passion for BBQ and community service is a plus!
Time Commitment
10-15 hours per month, with potential increases during website updates or major events
Location
Remote work onshore (US-based) is possible, but you must be available for occasional in-person meetings in the Carolinas.

The Southern BBQ Network (commonly known as SBN) is a 501c3 charitable organization formed in 2010 by a group of people who loved barbecue for eating and the art of preparation.
As a not-for-profit organization, the membership donates their time to support charitable events, with the satisfaction of supporting local community charities through fundraising and the enjoyment of sampling some of the best BBQ in the region.
