About Us
The Southern BBQ Network (SBN) is a vibrant community of BBQ enthusiasts in the Carolinas. With 250 members and a $20,000 annual budget, we promote BBQ culture, support charities, and sanction BBQ Competitions.
Role Overview
We're seeking a passionate Volunteer Membership Director to grow and engage our community of BBQ lovers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement membership recruitment and retention strategies
2. Manage member database and communications
3. Create engaging content for newsletters, web site, and social media
4. Organize member recruiting events such as training classes and networking opportunities
5. Collaborate with the board to align membership activities with SBN's vision
6. Assist in BBQ contest organization and charitable event planning
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in community building or customer relations
- Proficiency in database management and social media platforms
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Passion for BBQ and community service
- Prior nonprofit experience is a plus
Time Commitment
10-15 hours per month, with increased activity during events and membership drives
Location
Must reside in the Carolinas, with a preference for the greater Charleston, SC area

The Southern BBQ Network (commonly known as SBN) is a 501c3 charitable organization formed in 2010 by a group of people who loved barbecue for eating and the art of preparation.
As a not-for-profit organization, the membership donates their time to support charitable events, with the satisfaction of supporting local community charities through fundraising and the enjoyment of sampling some of the best BBQ in the region.
