Do you enjoy working with positive people & making new friends?

Are you ready to make a difference in South El Monte serving our unhoused neighbors?

Why: We'll be providing meals and sharing resources to our unhoused neighbors by partnering with local service providers. Your presence and volunteering will help create a welcoming, supportive, and safer environment for our community.

Who: Our mission is to confront and solve the problems creating homelessness, while also meeting urgent needs. With these types of events, our unhoused neighbors will get some urgent needs met, which everyone deserves. When we work with fellow volunteers to meet the urgent needs of people living outside, our entire community benefits.

What to Expect:

Join the Better Angels group at the Whittier Narrows Recreation Center (Area A Building 21). Look for our light blue T-shirts and our light blue sign.

Sign in and receive a Better Angels T-shirt, if needed.

We'll meet, chat about our plan for the day and each shift's duties.

Get the role instructions you'll need.

Roles include:

Set Up

Serving ( Coffee & Breakfast burritos)

Event Liason ( helping clients navigate the services that are provided)

Cleaning

Greeter

Belongings Attendant

Hygiene Distributor

De-Escalation Lead

Documentarian/ Photographer ( guidelines to be provided)

Activity/Game Coordinator

After: Share your experience with the onsite volunteer coordinator and find other ways you'd like to serve. We will also send a brief survey to you after the event.

What's Required:

Wear: Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. If you've volunteered with us before, feel free to wear your Better Angels T-shirt to show your support!

Tools: We will provide any necessary set-up items, kitchen supplies, and gloves if you need them. Please wear your hair up ( if longer than 12 in), if you are working in the kitchen.

Age: All ages are welcome. Teams with members younger than 14 will participate with their parent/ guardian.
