Position Summary:
As a Foster Volunteer with Cat Rescue Team, you will play a crucial role in providing a safe and loving environment for cats in need. Your primary responsibility will be to care for cats and kittens until they are ready for adoption or in the case of community cats, until they are healthy enough to be released. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and want to make a difference in the lives of homeless cats. Cat Rescue Team will provide all supplies and arrange all medical care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Care for Foster Cats: Provide daily care, including feeding, grooming, and ensuring a clean living environment. Administer medications as required.
- Health Monitoring: Monitor the health and behavior of foster cats, noting any changes or concerns and communicating them to the foster coordinator. All medical decisions will be made by foster coordinator.
- Socialization: Spend time interacting with foster cats to help them become more social and adoptable. This may include playtime, training, and acclimating them to different environments.
- Transport: Safely transport foster cats to veterinary appointments and adoption events as needed.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of care, including feeding schedules, medical history, and behavioral observations.
- Communication: Regularly update the rescue group on the progress and needs of the foster cats, including any issues that arise.
- Adoption Support: Assist in promoting your foster cats for adoption through social media and local events.
Requirements:
- Passion for Animals: A genuine love for cats and commitment to animal welfare.
- Time Commitment: Varying time commitment depending on the situation.
- Space and Safety: A suitable living environment that is safe and comfortable for cats, including separate space from your own pets if necessary.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively report on the health and behavior of foster cats.
- Transportation: Reliable transportation to take foster cats to appointments and events.
- Basic Knowledge of Cat Care: Familiarity with cat behavior and care, including feeding, litter box maintenance, and basic grooming.
- Background Check: Willingness to undergo a background check as part of the application process.

Description
We're working to grow our spay/neuter program with emphasis on TNR. We empower community cat caretakers, working along side them to demonstrate effective TNR techniques. We provide ongoing support as needed which may include trap loans, spay/neuter financial support and hands-on assistance. We also work on high-volume cases where we also provide education on animal welfare, assist in getting cats fixed and may help find placement for cats. In cases of very high needs, we may provide temporary aid with medical care and/or pet food.
