Literacy Volunteers Charlottesville/Albemarle is seeking volunteer tutors to assist adults in learning how to read, write, or speak English. Many of our students are refugees and immigrants.

Wondering if becoming a tutor is right for you? Come to an information session to learn more about our mission, our students, and what it takes to be a literacy volunteer. This one hour session is a virtual and held on Zoom. You can learn more or register directly at literacyforall.org/tutors

Please note that volunteer tutors need to reside in the Greater Charlottesville area.

LVCA promotes adult literacy through equitable, inclusive, free, confidential, one-to-one English and Citizenship tutoring.

Description

We believe all adults should have the ability to understand, speak, read, write, and communicate in English so that they can fully participate in our community.

Literacy Volunteers of Charlottesville/Albemarle ( LVCA) is a non-profit agency that offers free basic literacy and English as a Second Language tutoring to adults through the recruitment and training of volunteer tutors who work one-on-one with learners, helping them become more productive workers, parents, citizens, neighbors, and consumers. LVCA is a Virginia non-stock corporation with IRS 501(c)(3) status and is assisted and governed by a Board of Directors.
