About Us:

The United States Youth Forum (USYF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering historically marginalized and underserved young people to engage in youth-led civic initiatives. We strive to connect these underserved young individuals with their communities, encourage productive civic participation, and inspire them to create the changes they wish to see in the world, regardless of their race, political affiliation, gender, or socioeconomic status.

Role Description:

As the Social Media Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in spreading awareness about our organization's initiatives, events, and campaigns. You will be responsible for managing our social media accounts, creating engaging content, and interacting with our online community. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in social media management, communications, or movement building, while contributing to a meaningful cause. The position requires around 10-15 hours of work a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with leadership to co-create and implement an effective social media strategy with the intention to increase our organization's online presence, reach, and potential partnerships
  • Create engaging, audience centered, content including graphics, videos, TikTok’s/IG Reels, and written posts, for various social media platforms
  • Schedule and publish content across our social media channels, ensuring consistency and positive engagement with our social media audience(s)
  • Monitor social media trends and analytics to optimize our content and engagement strategies.
  • Engage with our online community by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with team members to promote events, fundraisers, and other initiatives through social media.
  • Work with team leads to co-create content for our social media that updates our audience(s) on the inner workings and progress of our different internal teams
  • Work with organization leadership to strategize how to inform our social media audience(s) of important organization wide updates
  • Stay informed about relevant news, trends, and developments in the nonprofit sector and youth advocacy.

*Please note: Responsibilities are subject to change according to strategic organization wide decisions; An ideal candidate for this role will be able to work through these changes and not compromise the quality of their work

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X ( formerly known as Twitter), and LinkedIn.
  • Proficiency in graphic creation platforms such as Canva
  • Creativity and a keen eye for design.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • An abundance mindset.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • An ability to work proactively on multiple projects.
  • Passion for youth empowerment, social justice, and reorganizing systems of power
