Community Projects for Seniors will deliver 3,000+ free hot meals to low-income senior citizens in 50 cities of S.E. Wisconsin right on Thanksgiving Day, and again right on Christmas Day. We need nearly 200 volunteers to deliver hot meals, and more than 150 volunteers to work on the food lines and food line support. Our meal site location is in Oak Creek, Wi, so all drivers and all food line volunteers, will report to that one meal site. All volunteer opportunities require you to attend one 55-minute volunteer orientation/info session. You can sign up on our website, or we will emal you the info when you contact us about this volunteer opportunity.

Mission Statement

Brighten the everyday lives of low-income senior citizens. We fight loneliness, reduce social isolation, create human connections, and build community, by delivering free hot meals on holidays, delivering care packages, and hosting social events and outings.

Description

Community Projects for Seniors is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in 1986, to fight loneliness among low-income senior citizens. We served a few hundred seniors, with 3 volunteers, at Christmas of 1986. Currently, there are 15,000 eligible seniors at 200 buildings in 50 cities within 8 counties of S.E. Wisconsin. We deliver free hot meals on holidays (Easter-Thanksgiving-Christmas). Hundreds of volunteers deliver thousands of meals every holiday. Approx. 4,000 individuals sign up for a holiday meal.
We take seniors on a nature trip in the summer (June-July-August), on a rotating basis among the sites we serve, every Tuesday. Throughout the year, we deliver care packages and hold social gatherings. Everyone signs up for a care pkg - care packages include toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissue, bar soap, and a wash cloth. Social events include either bingo, live music, or games. Volunteers bring a snack to social gatherings, and dish up some fun.
