ORGANIZATION: LEFT OF CENTER ART GALLERY

At the Heart of Art Gallery, we offer a variety of volunteer roles to suit different interests and skills. Here are some of the opportunities available:

1. Gallery Assistants: Help with the setup and takedown of exhibitions, arrange artworks, and maintain the gallery space.

2. Event Coordinators: Assist in planning and organizing gallery events, workshops, and community programs, including logistics and promotion.

3. Educational Facilitators: Lead workshops and interactive sessions for visitors, focusing on art techniques, cultural heritage, and storytelling.

4. Docents:Provide guided tours of the gallery, sharing insights about the featured artists and their work, and fostering discussions with visitors.

5. Marketing and Outreach Volunteers: Help with social media, write newsletters, and engage with the community to promote events and exhibitions.

6. Fundraising Assistants:Support fundraising initiatives, grant writing, and outreach to potential donors and sponsors.

7. Art Inventory Support:Assist in cataloging and organizing the extensive African art collection, ensuring each piece is documented and preserved.

8. Community Liaison: Engage with local organizations and schools to build partnerships, encourage collaboration, and increase community involvement.

9. Administrative Support: Help with day-to-day tasks, such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence.

LOC Art Gallery, is a vibrant nonprofit space dedicated to celebrating the creativity and diversity of BIPOC artists. Our mission is to uplift underrepresented voices in the art world by showcasing their work and providing a platform for artistic expression. Our gallery features an extensive collection of African art, highlighting the rich cultural heritage and innovative contributions of African artists. In addition to regular exhibits from artists from around the world, we offer classes, a library and studio space.

At LOC, we believe in the power of community and creativity. Our gallery serves as a welcoming space where individuals of all backgrounds can engage with art, participate in workshops, and contribute to collaborative projects. We host regular events, exhibitions, and panels that foster dialogue, education, and connection.

  • We are flexible with the time commitment. Some special events can be "done in a day" whereas other opportunities are ongoing. "
  • Different roles require different experience levels. We are open to training docents, special events help and admin support. Social media, community involvement and arts education should have prior experience.
