Hello! The mission of STEMpire: Empowering Young Women in STEM as a youth-led nonprofit is to provide further science, math, technology, and engineering resources and education to high school girls, specifically in underserved communities. We aim to lessen the gender gap and socioeconomic disparities in STEM fields and higher education institutions by forming a network of women to uplift one another, giving girls the resources they need to achieve the future they want.
Currently, we're looking for board members and volunteers. Qualities we would love to see in those interested are: ambition, leadership, and resilience. In addition, we would love to emphasize our desire for high schoolers to further this initiative. Expectations for volunteers are relatively laid-back; we just want people to attend virtual events, help with any initiatives that are happening near you, and attend a virtual monthly meeting, if possible. We want this to be a role that allows people who might not have a lot of free time to still have a chance to get volunteer hours while making a difference in their community.
As for board members, those selected would be more involved. We want board members to set aside time once a week to meet via Zoom to discuss progress and review current plans together. Board members will be in charge of what they want to do to best help the organization (so nobody's going to dump work on you or force you to plan events you dislike). However, there should be consistent progress. All group work is entirely virtual, and in-person events are optional to attend, but still should be planned by board members.
Here are the board positions offered:
- Assistant Outreach Director
- Assistant Volunteer Coordinator
- Assistant Event and Fundraising Director
- Grant and Sponsorship Coordinator
- Assistant Partnership Manager

Description
Since the founding of STEMpire in 2023, we have filed as an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the main goal of addressing the issues women face going into STEM jobs and higher education. We acknowledge this barrier begins in early childhood, and the disparity is most crucially addressable in high school-- the time young women set out their futures and take action! Therefore, STEMpire aims to assist women in receiving the resources they need to achieve the future they want for a better future with young girls that have a plethora of women role models in STEM, a future with a lesser pay gap between women and men, and a future where women who are people of color, LGBTQ+, disabled, low-income, and otherwise disadvantaged in the education system have a network of women through STEMpire to uplift one another.
