YAWI is looking for a volunteer who will give their time in amplifying our Sanitary towel drive project.
The volunteer will share the need to support our sanitary towel drive with an objective to end poriod poverty in Kenya.
Our Period poverty story
Period poverty is a lack of access to proper menstrual products and the education needed to use them effectively.
...Every month there’s a very stark choice for more and more women... BUY SANITARY PADS OR BUY FOOD. In this situation you buy food for your kids or yourself and do without sanitary products for yourself or the girls in the house. Unfortunately, Period poverty can have a detrimental effect on a girl's school attendance, test scores, and completion of secondary education, potentially cutting her wings for life.The good news is that it does not have to be this way. At YAWI, our mission is to change this harmful trend by providing SANITARY PADS and Menstrual Health Impacts trainings that break down taboos.
We're creating a better world in which all menstruation’s can stay (and fully participate) in school, pursue their dreams, and walk the path to their best and brightest futures - without menstruation getting in the way.

Young Africa women initiative (YAWI) is a legal entity based in Nakuru Kenya. YAWI is a woman led organization which was founded in 2012 YAWI is registered with the NGO board of Kenya. The purpose of the organization is providing frontline services to meet the needs of women, children and girls facing multiple disadvantage across more strands of gender- based violence.
