Are you a beloved bird watcher? Nuts for our national bird? Consider volunteering as an Eagle Watch Volunteer! In partnership with Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River, the Delaware Highlands Conservancy trains volunteers on how to identify eagles and help educate the visitors on good "Eagle Etiqette" during the eagle monitoring season. Data gathered while volunteering is also used to support eagle reporting and conservation.


Volunteer shifts are in person during weekends in January and February, when migrating eagles and resident pairs spend winter months in the Delaware River region.


Duties include:

  • Collecting data on wintering eagles and resident pairs.
  • Educate the public in "Eagle Etiquette" and on how to have the best eagle watching experience.
  • Staffing the Zane Grey Museum.
  • Assisting visitors with park questions.
  • Interpreting Zane Grey Museum exhibits.
  • Operating Eastern National sales outlet (gift shop).
  • Dusting exhibits/ Vacuuming carpet/ Sweeping Porch.
  • Changing cancellation stamp dates.
