Project Overview
We are actively recruiting volunteers to join KEEN SF’s Embarcadero YMCA sports program, where athletes with physical or developmental disabilities, ages 5-21, engage in fun and flexible activities tailored to meet their individual needs. As a volunteer, you will help athletes participate in loosely structured sports sessions, including activities such as basketball, soccer, relay races, ball play, and more.
The program emphasizes 1:1 volunteer support whenever safety allows, and your role will help create an inclusive and enjoyable environment that fosters friendships and supports each athlete’s sensory and recreational needs. Each session concludes with a group circle where athletes share something they are proud of from the day.
KEEN SF’s programs are volunteer-run, free, and non-competitive, providing athletes with an open, unstructured format that promotes success for all, regardless of the severity of their disabilities. We kindly request that all volunteers are fully vaccinated prior to joining to ensure the safety of our community.
Opportunities are available at 9am to help with kids 5-13 years of age and at 10 am to help teens 14-21 years of age.
About Kids Enjoy Exercise Now (KEEN SF)
KEEN’s Vision is to create communities in which individuals with disabilities have equal opportunities for recreation, fitness, and friendship; provide families with respite and a supportive network; foster a lifelong commitment to positive change for volunteers through their engagement with KEEN athletes; develop partnerships to actively promote disability awareness.
