Donate skilled labor to our 501(c)3 healing mission on the Big Island of Hawaii, and deduct your charity-related travel costs and expenses.

Muaisa Hale Pule is a qualified 501(c)3 Native American Church, which is authorized to conduct it's affairs in the State of Hawaii. At the moment we are seeking the skilled labor of a professional handyman or electrician with his/her own tools to perform approximately 4 days of plumbing and/or electrical maintenance in and around our 501(c)3 parsonage in Kealakekua, Hawaii.

* Out-of-Pocket Expenses you may be able to deduct include travel, meals and lodging, essentially all unreimbursed costs that are directly connected with the services you are offering and are necessary while you are away from home.

* Genuine and Substantial Duty - Your charity work has to be real and substantial throughout the trip. You can’t deduct expenses if you take time specifically to vacation, or if you don’t have any duties for significant parts of the trip.

* Value of Time or Service - You can’t deduct the value of your time or the services you give to us as charity. This includes income lost while you serve as an unpaid volunteer.

* Travel Costs You Can Deduct:
o air transportation,
o rental car expenses,
o lodging costs,
o cost of meals,
o taxi or other transportation costs between the airport and your hotel.

* Travel You Can’t Deduct - Some types of travel don’t qualify for a tax deduction. For example, you can’t deduct your costs if a significant part of the trip involves recreation or vacation.

* Recordkeeping - Like any tax deduction, you will need to be able to keep good records and be able to substantiate your volunteer expense deductions. For those who volunteered in Puerto Rico after the recent devastation there, for example, flights, lodging and meals were all deductible at 100% deductible. Meals are not subject to the same 50% limitations as meals for business.

Description

Muaisa Hale Pule is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit shamanic lodge on the healing Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. Every day, we recreate the sacred and promote personal awakening via mystic tours, vision quests, shamanic training, and individual and couple counseling. Our tranquil location is infused with the Spirit of Aloha. Nestled on the slopes of Mauna Loa and off the beaten path, we are approximately 11 miles from downtown Kailua-Kona, 19.5 miles from the airport, and 3 miles (6 miles by car) from the State of Hawaii's #1 top marine life sanctuary where Captain James Cook first discovered the Hawaii islands in 1778, and where pods of dolphins come almost daily to rest, feed and nurture their calves. Volunteers lend their services in helping to maintain our grounds and programs. Instruction is also available in art, health, healing, nutrition, fitness and self-development Breathe. Relax. Touch. Dream. Listen. Heal. Enjoy. Volunteer. Heaven awaits you at Muaisa Hale Pule.
