Chicago Education Advocacy Cooperative (ChiEAC) is a 501c3 nonprofit formed in January 2020 focused on serving the needs of some of Chicago’s most vulnerable students. Our mission is to connect Black and Latine students with practical pathways to upward social mobility through education in South Chicago by providing individualized social and cultural navigation through the school system through our Revolutionary Student Sponsorship (RSS) program.
As a Bilingual Student Advocate for our organization, you can invest in the life and education of a young person living in Chicago. Some of the students we serve in the RSS program are Spanish speaking only. Others only know Polish, Farsi, Arabic, French, and, of course, English. Student advocates work directly with our students and their families to provide the individualized support the family needs. Student advocates are intimately involved with the work we do providing direct support to students and families as they seek opportunities to enhance their educational experience.
Volunteers for this role should have some student facing experience. Our students have experienced trauma and are also working to complete their education. Frequently, these two realities conflict for the student and the family. Student advocates with ChiEAC frequently provide direct liaison services including calling organizations, scheduling appointments, and requesting services.
If you would be interested in working to help build our organization and serve students in Chicago, please send a resume to Dr. Benjamin Drury at benjamin@chieac.org for consideration.
