Advisory Committee Member, Tigard Area Community Fund
Purpose of this volunteer position: Members of the advisory committee select grant recipients for the Tigard Area Community Fund (TACF). The committee is composed of up to five members from the Tigard area. TACF was established with assets from the Tigard Area Community Foundation, which ceased operations in 2003. Its purpose is to support programs that improve life and promote effective philanthropy in Washington County, Oregon, with preference for the Tigard area. One grant in the amount of $3,000 to $4,000 may be recommended each year to an eligible nonprofit or government organization.
Responsibilities: Advisory committee members are responsible for selecting a nonprofit organization to receive funding with support from OCF staff. Members must meet at least one time to recommend a grant to a selected organization. It is the personal responsibility of the committee member to identify any possible conflict of interest situation that may impact funding decisions and to notify OCF of such conflict.
Q ualifications: The advisory committee member must be a resident of Washington County, Oregon. Preference is given to residents of the City of Tigard. Previous experience with grant review is a plus but is not required.
Time Commitment and travel: No travel is required for this position. Members must have reliable access to the internet and the ability to use Zoom. Members should be able to commit a minimum of two hours for introductions and onboarding and one hour for a committee meeting each year. The expected term for advisory committee members is three years.
Location: All meetings will take place online.
Training: OCF provides onboarding for all new volunteers. Additional training will be provided in advance of application review.
