ORGANIZATION: Family Values For Life

Join us to engage with kids in fun and meaningful ways on Wednesday nights while their parents are in workshops gaining tools and support for self-empowerment and to support their families. We work with birth - 5th grade children during this time, separating with birth - 5 years old, and 1st - 5th grade activities.

Current activities reflect social and emotional learning, arts and crafts, mindfulness, physical games, and activities to strengthen some reading and writing. Activities and subject focus will vary week to week.

For those interested, we anticipate to start a children's choir for the holiday season through this program for participating 2nd - 5th graders!

This opportunity occurs weekly on Wednesday nights, with program happening from 6:15pm - 7:30pm. Families, staff, community, and volunteers are encouraged to arrive by 5:45pm for a free provided community dinner before settling into the evening activities!

About Family Values For Life

Location:

1280 Arcade St, St. Paul, MN 55106, US

Mission Statement

Family Values for Life works with families to help them chart a path out of crisis through spiritual empowerment, mental alertness, physical fitness, and financial stability. Together we build capacities for families to network and leverage resources within their community. Strong healthy families cultivate secure communities.

Description

Driven by our mission, Family Values for Life provides programs and services to build holistic family stability for the BIPOC families we serve.

Our target population is low-income single-parent families living in East Side neighborhoods of Saint Paul. 70-80% of the families we serve are low-income. 90% of Family Values for Life program participants are people of color and 80% of regular participants are African American. 70% of our families are headed by single moms.

Family Values for Life is a multi-program human service agency helping families move from crisis to stability by addressing four "pillars" of wellbeing: spiritual, mental, physical, and financial.

Integrated programs reach more than 5,000 people per year and include crisis financial assistance, food shelf and basic needs support, skill-building workshops for single parents, grief and trauma support, family coaching and case management, community referrals, after-school family meals and homework help, targeted reading support for elementary students, mentoring, and summer camps.
