The K-5 Enrichment Program at LSA Family Health Service is an afterschool program in East Harlem that inspires children in grades K-5 to improve reading and math skills, with social and emotional learning goals and parent involvement integrated throughout the program. On Mondays the program works with volunteers to provide 1-on-1 tutoring to 30 students.
Volunteers on Tues., Wed., and Thurs., provide homework help to the students.
As a volunteer, you will:
- Create lessons for the student they are assigned to work with from our resource cart, library, or educational games and activities cabinets.
- Learn what subject area the student needs the most help with and curate future lessons to cater to areas that need improvement
- Contribute to and ensure a safe and positive learning environment
- Proficient in K-5 math, reading, and writing
- MUST clear a background check
- MUST undergo screening process with Mercy Center team
