Help us serve your community at this special event called "One City Indianapolis." At this event, community leaders and members can serve their neighbors in need by fitting them with a new pair of shoes and giving them hope and encouragement. There are a variety of volunteer roles available and we invite you to join us as we serve your neighbors in need! Volunteers should arrive at 9:30AM for volunteer training and assignments. Samaritan’s Feet serves and inspires hope in children by providing shoes as the foundation to a spiritual and healthy life resulting in the advancement of education and economic opportunities.

Description

Over 40 years ago, a young Nigerian boy, Manny Ohonme, received his first pair of shoes at the age of nine. It changed his life and now he wants give others that same opportunity for change and impact. Samaritan’s Feet wants to inspire hope through the gift of shoes, and encouragement to those who need it most.

Samaritan’s Feet believes that a new a pair of shoes and a smile and words of encouragement can:

  • Provide a tangible foundation of hope and the opportunity for a better life.
  • Prompt children to focus in school and families not to worry.
  • Help reduce the financial burden on the underserved by providing new, properly fitting shoes.
  • Protect feet and decrease the possibility of getting a foot-borne disease.
  • Reduce social isolation by bringing intergenerational communities together.
  • Enhance access to resources materials and services to to vulnerable children, adults, and seniors in the community.

Since its founding in 2003, Samaritan’s Feet and its partners have distributed over 9.5 million pairs of shoes in 109 countries and 560 U.S. cities.
