Our local southern resident orcas rely on the endangered chinook salmon as their main food source to survive. Due to habitat loss, climate change, and increased pollution, it has become even more difficult for migrating salmon to make the journey home to grow their population. In order to save our orcas, we must start with our salmon. Join Sound Salmon Solutions in celebration of Orca Recovery Day by planting native trees and shrubs along the North Fork Stillaguamish River to restore salmon spawning habitat which will in turn support the recovery of our southern resident orcas. Volunteers ages 5+ with parent/guardian are encouraged to join us. Exact location will be shared with registered participants.

712 3rd Street, Suite B, Mukilteo, WA 98275, US

Mission Statement

Connecting you with our watersheds for the future of salmon in the Stillaguamish, Snohomish and Island County watersheds.

Description

In 1990 the Washington State Legislature chartered nonprofit organizations called Regional Fisheries Enhancement Groups (RFEGs) to promote, support, and realize salmon recovery programs and projects in our watersheds. Sound Salmon Solutions (originally known as the Stilly Snohomish Fisheries Enhancement Task Force) is one of 14 RFEGs in the state. For over 30 years we have supported salmon recovery in the Stillaguamish, Snohomish, and South Island County watersheds by connecting people to their watersheds through interactive education, hands-on stewardship and state-of-the-art habitat restoration.
