Volunteer Position
The Orange County Health Care Agency, Emergency Medical Services Division, is seeking a dedicated and experienced medical professional to contribute to our Health Disaster Preparedness team as a volunteer. This role is pivotal in developing and refining strategies to ensure optimal healthcare delivery during disasters.
Position Summary
The Medical Research Volunteer will play a crucial role in researching, developing, and recommending field-deployable disaster services. This includes identifying essential supplies and equipment, establishing optimal par levels, and contributing to the overall enhancement of our disaster response capabilities.
Responsibilities
* Conduct in-depth research on disaster medical response best practices and emerging
technologies.
* Develop and refine protocols and procedures for field deployable disaster services.
* Collaborate with healthcare providers and emergency management personnel to identify
equipment and supply needs.
* Recommend appropriate par levels for medical supplies and equipment based on research and
analysis.
* Participate in disaster preparedness exercises and drills.
* Contribute to the development of educational materials for healthcare providers and the public.
Qualifications
* Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD) license in good standing.
* Extensive clinical experience in acute care, emergency medicine, or disaster response.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Commitment to volunteerism and community service.
Commitment
This is a volunteer position requiring a minimum of 8 hours per month. The specific schedule will be determined based on the volunteer’s availability and the needs of the program.
