Andersonville National Historic Site is seeking volunteer assistance with visitor services in the National Prisoner of War Museum. The national park features the National Prisoner of War Museum, Andersonville National Cemetery and the site of the historic Civil War prison, Camp Sumter. Andersonville National Historic Site is the only national park within the National Park System to serve as a memorial to all American prisoners of war.
The National Prisoner of War Museum is open 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., daily and is a non-admissions site. Essential functions associated with this volunteer assignment includes greeting visitors, answering routine questions regarding visitor services (film showings, time and duration of ranger programs, and processing sales transactions in the park's store). Andersonville National Historic Site grosses over 132,000 visitors annually and is seeking amicable volunteers to assist with catering to this volume of visitors.
Andersonville National Historic Site is located 10 miles south of Oglethorpe, GA and 10 miles northeast of Americus, GA on Georgia Highway 49. If you are interested in a temporary or permanent volunteer assignment, please contact the park at ande_information@nps.gov or via phone at 229-924-0343.
