Volunteer Position Description: NAMI Metro Suburban’s Development Committee Member
NAMI Metro Suburban’s Development Committee is tasked with overseeing and enhancing the organization's fundraising efforts and overall development strategy. The Committee plays a crucial role in ensuring the sustainability and growth of NAMI Metro Suburban by securing the necessary resources to fulfill its mission.
Strategic Resource Development- The Development Committee (DC) focuses on strategy, planning, and related planning for resource development for fundraising. The Development Committee works with the NAMI Executive Leadership team to create an annual plan that outlines goals, assignments, and processes for fundraising, ensuring that NAMI Metro Suburban has sufficient funding to support long-term sustainability.
Donor Stewardship- Guiding stewardship efforts is at the heart of the DC, including developing relationships with the community by engaging current and potential donors and funders. The committee also works closely with leadership staff to identify individuals, corporations, and foundations to cultivate, solicit, and steward. The Committee has the opportunity to build and maintain relationships with current and potential donors to ensure they feel valued and informed.
Special Event Planning - The Committee implements plans to raise funds through various channels, such as NAMI Metro Suburban’s Annual Fundraising Gala. The Committee helps to organize and execute the Fundraising Gala, which serves as a significant fundraising opportunity and focuses on various aspects of the event to ensure its success, including Identifying potential sponsors and partners, developing sponsorship packages, and securing financial support or in-kind donations.
Board Fundraising - Education & Training - The Committee acts as a catalyst to train the greater Board and helps to facilitate educating NAMI Board members and equipping them with tools and skills to fundraise on behalf of the NAMI Metro Suburban mission.
The Committee assesses the organization's fundraising efforts and makes adjustments as needed.
NAMI Metro Suburban Board Membership is not required for Committee membership. A minimum one-year volunteer commitment is desired for Development Committee members. Development Meetings are held monthly/2 times per month during Gala planning season (virtual or in-person).
