Mission Statement: The Growing Up Green Charter School (GUGCS) supports children to be conscious, contributing members of their community through a rigorous, anti-racist, anti-bias, curriculum and an engaging green culture. Graduates of GUGCS will be prepared to attend high-performing schools where their interdisciplinary academic foundation, knowledge of sustainability, and strong sense of self sets them apart as leaders and social justice advocates of the future.

Position Overview: Our network is looking for a Social Media Intern who is interested in learning about non-profit business media communication, strategies for increasing engagement, and producing content so as to reach our families and broader stakeholders. The intern would have exposure to media strategy, media campaign planning, reviewing analytics, data management, and more! Projects will be assigned on an ongoing basis and, ideally, aligned to intern interests. This internship will operate remotely with part-time hours and report to the Director of Family Engagement and Communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the GUG social media accounts and schedules posts.
  • Curates photos and school content.
  • Brainstorms campaign ideas.
  • Monitor social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube).
    • Selects highlights from community partners to feature on our social media
      • Local CBOs, museums and educational institutions we visit on field trips, politicians, city and state agencies, free community events
  • Reviews analytics to gauge the success of campaigns.
  • Understands the mission and vision of GUG, including the stakeholders: students, families, staff.
  • Creates engaging content that speaks to current and new families, as well as potential staff.
  • Provide suggestions for improving social platforms and internal processes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and Google online platforms (i.e., Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and able to learn new skills quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • $1000 stipend per month

Required Certificate & Licenses : NYC DOE/Fingerprinting & Background Clearance
