Are you ready to make a significant impact in your community using your finance or accounting expertise? StrongHER TogetHER, a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our finance team-the StrongHER TogetHER NumbHER CruncHERs. This dynamic team will play a critical role in organizing and streamlining our financial operations, ensuring that we can continue to positively affect the lives of youth in Durham.

We’re seeking multiple team members to help us grow and transition from a volunteer-run organization to one with paid staff in the near future. We need people who are passionate about building systems, managing finances, and contributing to the future success of StrongHER TogetHER.

What You’ll Do as Part of the NumbHER CruncHERs Team:

• QuickBooks Setup & Maintenance: One of our first priorities is transitioning from Excel to QuickBooks Online. Help us make this critical shift to modernize our bookkeeping and reporting.

• Monthly Bank Reconciliation: Once QuickBooks is set up, you’ll help ensure our finances stay accurate and transparent by performing monthly bank reconciliations.

• Monthly/Quarterly/Annual Financial Reports: Work as part of the team to generate essential financial reports, giving the board and leadership team a clear view of the organization’s financial health.

• Financial Forecasting & Planning: Collaborate with our executive director, board chair, and fellow finance team members to align financial planning with our strategic goals. Financial forecasting will be key as we plan for paid staff and other organizational milestones.

• Update Bank Account Access & Secure Debit Cards: Help clean up access to our bank account and assist in securing debit cards for our 16 group leaders, so they no longer need to use personal funds for expenses upfront to be reimbursed afterwards.

• Tax Filing & Fiscal Year Change: Assist with filing annual taxes (our fiscal year is currently 5/1-4/30, and FY23 is already filed) and support us in changing our fiscal year to align with the calendar year.

What We’re Looking For:

• Finance/Accounting Expertise: A strong grasp of financial management principles is required, with QuickBooks experience preferred. Whether you’re an experienced professional or a student majoring in accounting or finance, we welcome anyone with an intermediate understanding of accounting to apply.

• System Builders: If you enjoy building processes that create efficiency and structure, this is a perfect fit. You’ll help design and implement systems that support our financial operations.

• Team Players: You’ll work closely with the executive director, board chair, and fellow finance team members. The ability to collaborate and communicate effectively is crucial.

• Commitment: We estimate a time commitment of 10 hours a month for the first three months to onboard and set up systems. After that, you’ll dedicate about 4-5 hours per month (roughly an hour per week). We’re looking for volunteers who can commit for at least one year.

• Passion for Impact: By joining the NumbHER CruncHERs, you’ll be contributing to the financial backbone of StrongHER TogetHER, allowing us to continue empowering youth in Durham to thrive.
