ORGANIZATION: Human Health Project

Human Health Project's (HHP) foundation is built upon peer-to-peer health information, education, and advocacy. Through our programs, our objective is to empower individuals to manage their health. HHP was founded in 2002 by Dr. Phil Harrington who had spent three years trying to find a diagnosis which sparked the idea for HHP. Today we are made up of a small core staff with 80+ volunteers, 30+ board members and advisers, spread around the world.

Position Description:

The Human Health Project is looking for a motivated Diabetes E-Researcher to help improve access to beneficial health information. The Researcher will work with our team in analyzing scientific publications and other literature, all in the effort to create free, helpful lesson plans about managing diabetes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Researcher must be available for weekly call as well as be able to set aside a few hours of time each week for research and lesson building.

- Researcher will be in charge of scouring scientific literature and health-related publications to come up with lessons and media approachable by an everyday viewer.

- Researcher will create media using online and installed applications (Powerpoint, Prezi, etc).

- Researcher will communicate findings and update project leads using variety of programs (Slack, Trello, email, etc).

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

- Researcher must be proficient in understanding scientific jargon and interpretation of high-level publications, as well as be able to make such findings understandable for everyday listeners. A degree in the sciences is not required, but helpful.

- Research must also be able to create thought-through lesson plans with an eye for audience, authenticity, and aesthetics.

-Researcher must have a commitment to improving accessibility of health information.
