About Take Back Your Data

Location:

Am Markt 9, Kaltenkirchen, Schleswig-Holstein 24568, DE

Mission Statement

Our future is at risk. The manipulation of the Brexit campaign and US elections through data harvesting was just the beginning of a growing threat to democracy. Today, powerful AI systems amplify this risk, capable of real-time manipulation that undermines our freedom. Take Back Your Data is fighting for the human right to privacy by giving individuals control over their personal data and dismantling the forces that exploit it. We develop tools and technologies that prevent data abuse and empower people. But technology alone is not enough. We need millions of voices demanding change. The time to act is now.

Description

Take Back Your Data was founded to combat the growing threat of data exploitation and manipulation in today’s digital world. With advances in AI and data harvesting technologies, personal information is increasingly vulnerable to abuse on an unprecedented scale. The manipulation of the Brexit campaign and US elections was only the beginning. Today, these risks are far greater, as AI enables real-time manipulation of individuals and societies.

Our mission is twofold: First, we aim to build a global movement to demand privacy as a human right. By raising awareness, educating the public, and exposing privacy violations, we seek to hold governments and corporations accountable. Our goal is to empower individuals to reclaim control over their personal data and advocate for ethical data practices.

Second, through our nonprofit arm, we develop open-source tools that equip people to protect their data from misuse. These technologies are designed to be secure, accessible, and available to all, helping prevent abuse before it happens. We focus on creating low-barrier solutions so everyone, regardless of resources, can protect their privacy.

At Take Back Your Data, we believe technology should work for the people, not against them. Through collective action and innovation, we are creating a future where privacy is protected, democracy is preserved, and data exploitation is impossible.
