Position Summary: We are seeking talented board members with expertise in key areas to guide our mission forward. The ideal candidate will have a passion for environmental sustainability and will serve as an ambassador for our nonprofit throughout Cobb County. We are particularly looking for individuals with experience in the following areas:
- Fundraising: Professionals with experience in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, and donor cultivation.
- Environmental Stewardship: Environmental engineers and scientists experienced in conservation, agriculture, natural resource management, or recycling.
- Marketing: Leaders with experience in social media marketing and community engagement.
- Community Engagement and Events: Professionals in community engagement and event planning.
- Educational Advisor: Educational and curriculum professionals to help define our school engagement and community education framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Participate in strategic planning and policy development to align with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Financial Oversight: Review and approve the annual budget, ensuring financial transparency and fiduciary responsibility.
- Fundraising Support: Actively engage in fundraising efforts, including a personal fundraising target of at least $1,000 annually, and leverage personal networks to cultivate donor relationships and secure additional funding.
- Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as an ambassador for My Green Earth at public events, community functions, and stakeholder meetings.
- Committee Participation: Serve on at least one committee, contributing to its goals and initiatives.
- Volunteer Support: Participate in volunteer events and dedicate a portion of time to on-site volunteer work, both in fundraising and programmatic activities.
- Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality: Disclose any potential conflicts of interest and maintain confidentiality on sensitive organizational matters.
Qualifications:
- Passion for Sustainability: A strong commitment to environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation.
- Professional Expertise: Relevant experience in one of the key areas (fundraising, environmental stewardship, marketing, community engagement, or education).
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with other board members, staff, and volunteers.
- Commitment: Willingness to commit the necessary time and energy to fulfill board responsibilities, including attending at least 9 out of 12 board meetings per year and organizational events.

We aim to empower individuals, foster environmental stewardship, and ensure accessible sustainable solutions for all. As part of our mission, we are committed to mitigating the impact of climate change and enhancing community resilience through education, outreach, and innovation.
Description
My Green Earth was founded in April of 2022. We focus on 3 core programs in order to achieve our mission of a more sustainable Cobb:
School Impact: We transform K-12 schools into hubs of sustainability and environmental action, and students into champions for a sustainable future.
Roots of Resilience: Resilience is about harnessing inner strength. Through our Roots of Resilience program, we inspire resilience within people and the planet through educational programs and and by planting green spaces such as food forests and gardens.
Environmental Equity: Those most impacted by the impacts of climate change in Cobb have the least resources to protect themselves. We lower energy bills, reduce urban heat islands, and connect Cobb’s food deserts to fresh food.
