Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Rocky Mountain National Park is looking to recruit additional volunteers to support our winter operations at Bear Lake! These volunteers, fondly referred to as the Polar Bears, provide visitors with information about trail conditions, hike recommendations, and safety information.

This position involves standing for extended periods of time. Volunteers should expect to work alongside another volunteer or ranger and to communicate with park visitors frequently. Volunteers will be provided a uniform but are expected to supply items such as base layers, winter footwear, and gloves. Volunteers should be comfortable working in potentially adverse weather conditions and high-altitude environments above 9,000 feet.

You will be expected to commit to a weekly shift. If you are unable to make one of your shifts, you may contact another volunteer to cover your shift for you. The available shifts are:

Saturdays or Sundays, 7:30am-3:00pm

In your application, please describe your knowledge of and experience in the Bear Lake area. The ideal candidates will be familiar with the Bear Lake area and winter recreation.
