Are you and your pet looking to bring comfort, joy, and peace to those facing life-limiting illness? Join our compassionate team as a Pet Therapy Volunteer and help enhance the quality of life for hospice patients through the unconditional love and presence of your therapy-trained pet.
What You'll Do:
- Visit hospice patients in their homes or care facilities with your certified therapy pet.
- Provide emotional support, companionship, and comfort through the presence of your pet.
- Offer stress relief and improve the well-being of patients and their families during challenging times.
- Collaborate with hospice staff to ensure patient needs are met.
Requirements:
- Your pet must be a certified therapy animal through a recognized organization (e.g., Pet Partners, Therapy Dogs International, etc).
- You and your pet must complete required hospice volunteer training.
- Compassion, empathy, and patience are essential for working with hospice patients.
- Ability to travel to patient homes or care facilities within the service area you feel most comfortable.
