STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program specializing in an advanced,
bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum emphasizing the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

Location: Remote
Time commitment: 4 Hours per Week (Flexible Hours)


Description: As the Volunteer Graphic Designer for STEM Canada, you will play a crucial role in shaping the visual identity of our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for design, excellent technical skills, and a passion for creating visually compelling content to promote STEM literacy and education. In this role, you will collaborate with various departments to develop creative assets for digital and print media that align with our STEM identity and goals. Your work will help enhance our presence, tell the STEM Canada story, and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design graphics for websites, social media, advertisements, and print materials.
  • Maintain a consistent brand look and feel across all designs and visual materials.
  • Collaborate with the teams to design and develop branding materials like logos, brochures, and social media graphics.
  • Participate and collaborate in virtual meetings with team members to gather design requirements and create multiple design options for review, feedback, and approval.
  • Support brand-building by creating visuals for social media and digital marketing campaigns representing STEM stories.
  • Design and update digital assets for the website, ensuring a modern and user-friendly experience.
  • Organize and manage design projects using online collaboration tools to meet deadlines.
  • Assist in creating graphic content for email marketing, social media campaigns, and fundraising initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Experience of 1+ years in graphic design, and a strong portfolio of print and digital work (would be an asset).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) with additional knowledge of After Effects and Figma as a plus.
  • Experience managing website projects from start to finish, including design and branding materials, and familiarity with WordPress (Elementor) and HTML/CSS updates.
  • Proven collaboration skills and familiarity with remote collaboration tools such as Zoom, Slack, and Trello for effective communication and project management.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changes, along with attention to detail and a basic understanding of SEO best practices.
  • A passion for creativity and visual storytelling in design work.
