Are you passionate about education and want to make a meaningful difference in a child's life? Kids Need Our Words (KNOW) is seeking dedicated volunteer tutors to help us provide academic support to students from lower-income backgrounds. This is a remote opportunity, allowing you to make an impact from anywhere!

As a volunteer tutor, you will work one-on-one with students in grades 1-8, helping them improve their skills in reading, writing, and math. Our goal is to empower students by fostering academic growth, building confidence, and promoting educational equity.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tutoring in subjects such as reading, writing, and math.
  • Help students strengthen their academic skills and develop confidence.
  • Collaborate with our team to track student progress.
  • Commit to at least one hour per week for tutoring sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills and patience.
  • Experience working with children or in tutoring is a plus but not required.
  • Passion for education and helping students succeed.
  • Reliable internet access for virtual tutoring sessions.

Description

Kids Need Our Words (KNOW) is a nonprofit focused on promoting educational equity for children from lower-income backgrounds. We provide personalized tutoring in reading, writing, and math to help students excel academically and build confidence. Founded to bridge the achievement gap, KNOW offers programs like the GROW Tutoring Program, which provides one-on-one tutoring sessions, and the Subject Mastery Kits (SMK) Program, offering curated learning materials to reinforce key skills. Additionally, the KNOW Book Club encourages reading comprehension through group discussions.

Since our founding, KNOW has helped students improve their literacy skills, build stronger academic foundations, and regain confidence in their abilities. We’re proud of the progress our students have made and the impact we’ve had in advancing educational equity.
