Are you looking to make an difference in the lives of patients and their families?
We are looking for individuals who want to be part of a support system for our patients and their families as they transition into end-of-life. Volunteers can visit with patients, read to them, listen to music or go on walks together.
Suncrest serves our patients wherever they call home. We have volunteer opportunities throughout the Chicagoland area and can match you with patients as near to you as you're comfortable traveling!
Suncrest's volunteering can be 100% flexible to your schedule- we have no minimum hourly requirement and no scheduled shifts. You can visit your patients when it works for you. We believe that hospice volunteering should enhance the lives of patients, their families, & our volunteers so we do our best to work with you to find volunteer work that is fulfilling, flexible, and fits into your life!
All Suncrest Hospice volunteers must be 18 or older and are required to complete a background check, be fingerprinted, and complete a TB test at no charge to you.

Description
Your Family is Our Family
The team at Suncrest treats every patient, whether they’re receiving home care or hospice care, as they would a member of their own family, with respect, dignity, and compassion. We believe our role as hospice clinicians is not only about improving the quality of life for the patient, but also for the patient’s caregivers and loved ones, with the singular goal of enhancing the lives of those we serve.
Suncrest Volunteer ProgramVolunteers are essential members of the patient’s hospice care team. Volunteers are trained to listen, care, and provide companionship for our patients during this important time in their lives. Through careful screening and orientation, our volunteers understand the hospice philosophy to provide as much comfort and quality of life to our patients as possible. They participate on the team visits which may include reading to patients, doing crafts, taking them outside in their wheelchair, accompanying them to a meal, writing letters, and sometimes simply by sitting quietly next to a patient’s bed. All of our volunteers are trained to provide companionship, and some of them bring extra areas of skill with them, such as massage, music, and energy work. A volunteer may also choose to help out with administrative tasks in the office.
