Are you someone who loves to talk about animals? Do you want to help animals find homes? If you want to spend time in your community with adoptable animals, the PAW is where you should be! The PAW is IndyHumane's Pet Adoption Wagon and is an integral part of our community outreach efforts. We take adoptable pets, dogs and kittens, to events out in the community from Farmers' markets, sporting events, corporate events, and community events like Pet Pride. We need gregarious animal lovers to help handle our dogs or cats so that they can safely interact with the public and meet new people and potential adopters. Tasks include walking a dog around an event, monitoring their body language to ensure they are safe and comfortable, answering questions, and engaging with patrons.
There are events on weekdays and weekends, mornings, afternoons, and evenings, so a flexible schedule is a plus! There is no set schedule, so we ask volunteers to pick up shifts at events as they are announced. Typically we have a month's events up the prior month, but sometimes we find opportunties with less notice.
This is an opportunity that can work in tandem with volunteering at the shelter location, but is not required.
