Description
Why should I become a volunteer? Hospice volunteers can make an amazing difference in the everyday lives of patients and their loved ones
An important part of the hospice team is volunteers. A volunteer may run errands or simply provide companionship to patients, as well as intervals of rest for caregivers. As a hospice volunteer, you will be oriented to a specialized program so you can understand our mission, philosophy, and goals.
We will give you the skills needed to assist patients and their families. You will find it to be the most rewarding thing that you can do to make a difference in your life and someone else’s life. Volunteering affirms and enhances your acquired skills and knowledge.
Our volunteers are the heart of the hospice team. We depend on our hospice volunteers to assist us in providing compassionate support and care to our patients and their loved ones during this difficult time in their lives.
Our volunteers offer support, companionship and practical care to our patients. Whether it’s running errands, sitting with a patient to provide relief for the care giver, reading to a patient, helping a patient write in his/her journal or providing the power of presence. As a hospice volunteer, you will truly make a difference.
Volunteers can also provide:
- Administrative Support
- Bereavement Support
