ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories

Roger Marple Volunteer Award Selection Committee
The Roger Marple Volunteer Award has been established, in consultation with Roger, to recognize a volunteer who exemplifies the qualities and efforts Roger Marple embodied in his daily life and his work on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society and those living with dementia.
In determining the award recipient each year, the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories seeks community members to sit on the Award Selection Committee to provide their unique perspectives.
The award selection committee members will apply a standardized rubric to all nominations and the nominee with the highest score will be the winner and award recipient. The judges will not engage any nominees during the selection process.
The award will be presented to the volunteer who supports people living with dementia and personifies Roger’s promise of: "I promise I will not make fun of any challenges you may have with your terminal condition called life. I will see who you are regardless of any challenges you may have. I will recognize and support you to live your life to the fullest regardless of the challenges you have. I promise to recognize what hope looks like for you living your life to the fullest, with the time you have left, so you can live a good quality of life. And most of all, I will respect who you are."

Award Selection Committee:
Nominations will be judged by the Award Selection Committee of the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories. The Selection Committee (judges) is comprised of:
* A past recipient award winner (preferably most recent)
* An Executive Member of the Alzheimer of the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories
* Three community members who are involved in dementia supportive community activities and/ dementia-related research.
Community members may apply to sit on the selection committee at any time throughout the calendar year, with the annual deadline being October 15th.
