By participating in this one time event, volunteers will create 300 resource filled literacy kits to be distributed to children of underserved communities across NYC during Jumpstart's Read for the Record day!

Jumpstart’sRead for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading experience, celebrating early literacy and supporting children’s early language and social-emotional development. The annual initiative raises awareness of the critical importance of early literacy and access to inclusive, high-quality books through shared reading. This year, Jumpstart’s 19th Annual Read for the Record Day will be held on October 24th, 2024. Millions of people will come together that day to read Piper Chen Sings co-authored by award-winning actress and singer Phillipa Soo and Maris Pasquale Doran and illustrated by Qin Leng. Thousands of schools, libraries, and community organizations will celebrate early literacy by reading this empowering story of self-expression, overcoming self-doubt, and the ways family relationships can support us.
