We are currently seeking 30 responsible adults to mentor student-dog teams in our 3-week Fall program: October 14 - November 1, Mon - Fri, 3:45-6:45PM.

Volunteers will work directly with student-dog teams to train them on dog handling. DAILY BASICS include:

  • Arrive at designated time and place for staff briefing
  • Set up space for training and retrieve shelter dog from designated staff for potty walk
  • 1st hour - students train their dogs using reward-based, force free methods, volunteers support students as they learn
  • 2nd hour - classroom type activities. Volunteers support students, both 1:1 and as a group during discussions, presentations and tours
  • Return dog to designated staff after program
  • Volunteers are also charged with maintaining the safety of the students/dogs in all aspects of the program
