Kids Connection Haiti, founded 14 years ago to help at-risk Haitian youth in Port-Au-Prince to get an education and then to get a job, is seeking a highly motivated fundraising volunteer to join our dedicated team in Ottawa so that we can reach an even greater number of deserving Haitian youth. This is an ongoing, remote-work position. While there is no fixed commitment of hours, it is envisioned the volunteer would devote between 5 and 10 hours per week. The anticipated start date is October 7th . The fundraising volunteer would develop and then lead a variety of strategies to increase the charity ’ s income using our past and well-established fundraising activities as a starting point and spring board. While the fundraising volunteer would lead, they would not be alone. Other volunteers in Canada, Washington and Port-Au-Prince would be available to provide input and resources such as statistics, pictures and videos and to help in person in the greater Ottawa, Toronto and/or Montreal areas. The fundraising volunteer must be a self-motivated, outgoing and organized individual, well versed in common spreadsheet, digital presentation, email and video conferencing software looking for the satisfaction of helping some of the most destitute but deserving youth in the Western Hemisphere to pull themselves and their families out of poverty. Prior experience would be an asset but not a necessity. A willingness to experiment and to learn will be essential. With graduation and employment rates over 90% over our history, we know the KCH model works. We must now grow to help even more. An in-person, two-way conversation to ensure KCH and the volunteer are each a good fit for the other would be the next step.

The Kids Connection Haiti (KCH) mission is to empower at-risk young adults in Haiti to become contributing, self-sufficient community members through education, life skills training, community service, mentorship, and career development.
KCH was founded to support a very specific target community: young women and men from 18 to 25 years old who grew up in extreme poverty, whether from orphanages, homelessness, child slavery situations, or coming from Haiti’s most challenging slums. KCH welcomes them all. It provides them with support for the next step in life. Since the program was founded, over a hundred young adults have gone through our doors. 99% of them graduated with a diploma, and 92% found paid employment - an incredible high success rate in a country where unemployment hovers around 60%. We have increased our field staff and diversified our local partnerships with community-based organizations.
