ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Do you love talking to people? Would you love volunteering with a view of the river out your window? The Riverside Kiosk Volunteer plays a vital role in protecting and caring for the Upper Delaware River by helping our visitors to recreate safely and responsibly. As part of the Division of Interpretation, the Riverside Kiosk Volunteer will interact with visitors at any of the four boat launch sites that have NPS kiosks present, to promote safe river recreation and stewardship.

Duties of the Riverside Kiosk Volunteer include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides information about nearby NPS areas and services, and local points of interest.
  • Records daily visitor statistical information for use in compilation of park visitation reports.
  • Provides river recreationists with information about river conditions, proper canoeing techniques, and river safety.
  • Monitors water safety information given by livery operators and camp groups using the river.
  • Provides river safety talks to recreationists entering the water.
  • Warns visitors of hazards and park regulations, contacting park Law Enforcement, Resource Management, or Maintenance Divisions as necessary.

Volunteer locations include the Skinners Falls, Ten Mile River, Lackawaxen, and Mongaup public river accesses.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Volunteers are needed for 4+ hour shifts during June through August Wednesday-Sunday.
