ORGANIZATION: Native American Community Clinic

NACC assists approximately 200 unhoused or instabily housed individuals a week with meeting their basic needs. At each event or outreach encounter, NACC distributes items to some of South Minneapolis' most vulnerable residents, those living in tents or in encampments as well as our Native American Elders and families that visit our clinic. In addition to providing them with basic needs, we connect them with medical care, dental care, behavioral and chemical health as well as assisting them to access shelter, benefits and other community resources.

We are seeking groups that might want to do a one time event - the ask would be that your group purchases items and assembles kits for our Outreach Team to distribute at our weekly events. Items to consider would be travel sized shampoo and conditioner, travel size toothpaste, hygiene wipes, socks, hats and gloves as Fall and Winter approaches. We also provide snack packs at these events and this could be another opportunity to assist. We typically like to include a protein like a beef stick or canned chicken snack set as well as something sweet and something like chips. We can be flexible on these items. Our participants also love fresh fruit such as Cuties or grapes.

Description

Native American Community Clinic opened its doors in 2003 to address the health disparities within the urban Native American community of the Twin Cities. Our mission is to promote the health & wellness of mind, body, and spirit of Native American families. We offer a full range of healthcare services that include Medical, Behavioral Health, Dental, and Substance Abuse programs. NACC approaches healthcare by addressing root causes of health disparities including access to food, housing and health insurance with services such as resource navigation, care coordination, outreach and community-based activities through the use of our peer recovery coaches and community health workers. NACC strives to honor health and tradition by providing spiritual care and access to traditional healing through our Elders in Residence.
