Position: Intake Volunteer for Education Program
Location: MORE, 96 E Wheelock Pkwy, St. Paul, MN 55117
Time Commitment: 3 hours per week during Monday-Thursday (between 9 AM - 12 PM, based on volunteer’s preference)
Role Overview: MORE is seeking a dedicated Intake Volunteer to assist with the intake process for our education program, which serves refugees and immigrants. The Intake Volunteer will play a key role in welcoming new students, helping them complete intake forms, conducting placement testing, and providing an orientation to the program. This individual will also be responsible for entering student information into our database, ensuring accurate and organized records. The volunteer will undergo specialized training to prepare them for the role, including instruction on data intake and management, administering placement tests, and understanding the specific needs of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
·Assist incoming students with completing intake forms and paperwork
·Administer placement tests to determine appropriate class level
·Provide program orientation to new students, explaining class structure and program expectations
·Input student information and test results into the database
·Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all student records
·Create a welcoming and supportive environment for new students
Qualifications:
·Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor
·Attention to detail and ability to manage paperwork and data accurately
·Basic computer skills and familiarity with data entry
·Patience and cultural sensitivity when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
·Previous experience in education or with immigrant/refugee communities is a plus, but not required
