Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per week
Purpose of the Role:
The Marketing Team Lead is responsible for leading all marketing efforts to increase Unity Bands' visibility and attract greater public support. As a small non-profit with fewer than 50 volunteers, Unity Bands relies on strategic marketing to build awareness of its mission to support healthcare workers. The Marketing Team Lead will play a key role in developing creative, cost-effective campaigns to boost public engagement and help the organization grow.
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement affordable and impactful marketing strategies to raise the profile of Unity Bands and its mission.
- Tailor marketing efforts to reach diverse audiences, including healthcare professionals, potential volunteers, and donors.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to align marketing strategies with organizational goals, focusing on increasing public awareness and volunteer participation.
Digital Marketing & Social Media Management:
- Manage Unity Bands' social media presence, creating engaging content and increasing followers on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
- Develop low-cost digital marketing campaigns that maximize exposure, such as social media challenges, storytelling, and volunteer spotlights.
- Analyze social media metrics to optimize campaigns and ensure growth in engagement and visibility.
Content Creation & Branding:
- Oversee the creation of compelling, mission-driven content for the website, newsletters, social media, and event materials.
- Work with volunteers or external partners to create visually appealing and informative content, such as graphics, videos, and blog posts.
- Ensure consistent messaging across all channels that reflects Unity Bands’ mission and core values.
Qualifications:
- Experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field, with a focus on grassroots or non-profit marketing preferred.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple marketing initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in content creation and social media management.

Time Commitment:

About Unity Bands Inc.:
Unity Bands Inc. is a vibrant all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting low-income healthcare workers and providing credible public health information to at-risk communities. We operate across nine states and have raised over $16,000 to date, enabling us to feed frontline workers, donate comfort care items, and host more than 10 impactful speaker series sessions.
Why Our Mission Matters:
Our mission is crucial because nearly 7 million essential healthcare workers in the U.S. are underpaid, including health care support workers, direct care workers, and service workers. Over 80% of these workers are women and disproportionately people of color. Despite their vital role, charitable support often dwindles quickly after a disaster, as seen with COVID-19. Our recent survey highlighted the need for continued awareness and support, with one healthcare worker noting, "Continue supporting us. Just the little things that bring a smile and can make things better."

- 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
- The idea for Unity Bands, an all-volunteer, nonprofit project, manifested in March 2020 as stay-at-home orders were enacted across the country and around the world. In December 2020, Unity Bands Founder and President, John Schirrippa, worked with a Brazilian graphics designer to create the memorable, green Unity Bands logo representing the nonprofit’s ethos: hope, fight and unity.
- Thus far, Unity Bands has sold 2,000 wristbands to individuals and organizations in 13 states and three countries, and donated over $15,000 to five medical facilities across New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Alabama. We’ve partnered with multiple organizations and individuals to raise funds through the sale of wristbands, restaurant givebacks, raffles, and sports giveaways.
