Volunteer Board Member: OHS Philanthropy Director (Fundraising Specialist)

Fundraising is a vital part of any nonprofit organization and Ohlone Humane Society is grateful for our past and ongoing donors and funders. All programs at OHS depend on private donations, grants, corporate partnerships, and our fees and memberships. With so much competition for funding these days, we are a motivated, dedicated and fun group that thrives on creativity to help people feel good about donating to Ohlone Humane Society and know that their donations will be used to achieve our mission to support human-animal well-being. OHS is searching for board candidates with a fundraising focus. We’re seeking individuals who will be an integral part of our leadership team, driving the financial sustainability of OHS.

Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising: development and execution of fundraising strategies to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Donor Engagement: cultivate and maintain relationships with key donors, sponsors, and corporate partners.
  • Campaign Management: oversee major fundraising campaigns and initiatives, ensuring successful implementation and outcomes.
  • Collaboration: collaborate with fellow Board members, program managers, and administrative team to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
  • Advocacy: Act as an advocate for the organization, promoting its mission and fundraising initiatives within your network and the broader community.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Community Outreach, Donor Management, Fundraising, Grant Management, Marketing & Communications (Mar/Com), Public Relations; knowledge of social media business platforms like Facebook, instagram, YouTube, and writing emails to help us create and run online fundraising campaigns.

Who should apply:

  • Experience is appreciated but willingness to learn, commitment and dedication are more important.

Required time expected:

  • Virtual training is possible
  • 5-10 h/week

Ohlone Humane Society is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that serves the Tri-City area in the East Bay. We care for animals and the community through humane programs and services. Ohlone Humane Society is privately funded and relies on the generous support of our community through donations and volunteering.

As one of the few humane societies that maintains a wildlife rehabilitation center, Ohlone Humane Society truly advocates for all creatures--from injured or orphaned native species to abandoned companion animals.
