Volunteer Opportunity: Program Director for EmpowerHER

The Joy of Living, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and passionate Program Director for our Young Lady’s Empowerment Program-EmpowerHER. This impactful 36-week program is designed to empower middle and high school girls to excel academically, develop essential skills, and build confidence for future success.

Location & Time:

  • When: Saturdays, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
  • Where: Deep Creek Middle Magnet School

Program Overview:
The EmpowerHER program offers a wide range of activities, workshops, and seminars covering topics such as:

  • Financial Literacy & Workforce Curriculum
  • Leadership Development & College Readiness
  • Health & Wellness, STEM, Time Management
  • Enrichment Field Trips, Community Service & Prevention Workshops

Volunteer Role: Program Director
We are seeking a volunteer with experience in youth programming who can:

  • Design and implement engaging activities for middle and high school students (ages 12-18)
  • Collaborate with facilitators to tailor lessons and workshops
  • Inspire and guide participants toward academic and personal success

Description

At the Joy of Living Center, we use an empowering and advocating approach to change the cycle of poverty for low-income women, children, and youth by offering an array of services that educate and encourage positive self-worth to a pathway out of poverty to move towards self-sufficiency. We are honored to be a part of each person’s journey towards healing, joy, and hope and to create the promise of a better tomorrow.

Our daily work at The Joy of Living is motivated by the unwavering commitment of its volunteers. The Joy of Living has a long practice of empowering and encouraging many people by sharing knowledge and creating educational, empowering activities that enrich the lives of women, children, youth, and marginalized families in the community. We provide an array of services in four programming phases---services for Women, Children/Youth, Health and Wellness, and Outreach. Through our programs and services, we address the critical needs of disadvantaged communities. Each year, we impact the lives of more than 5,500 people in our communities. Our work empowers each participant to become the hero of their own story.
